Entrusted

Entrusted

I love the word entrusted! It is a powerful word and it entails trust by the one imparting it to another.  The word inspires hope and strength in all instances that it is intentionally given.

I think of the movie series The Lord of the Rings and Froto, the Hobbit. He was entrusted to take the ring to Mordall and throw it in the lake of fire to destroy the power of the evil one. He was the only one who could succeed. But, there was great sacrifice on his part, a willingness to give up his live that others could live.

Jesus was entrusted with the souls of mankind. He was the only one who could free mankind from sin, death, and the grave.  Not only did he give up His life that we would have a way back to the Father but in His rising again, He gave us the power to choose good or evil and what is in between. He had God the Father send the Holy Spirit that we could have all that we needed to be all that He created us to be; wisdom, strength, and a peace that passes all understanding, regardless of the circumstance.

I think of my children and grandchildren. God entrusted me to lead and guide them to become all that God had created them to be.

I remember when my youngest daughter had the blood disease IPT and I struggled with God through the night. I remember saying to God “You gave her to me.” He said; “No, she is mine on loan to you.” He entrusted – trusted my husband and I with guiding her.

God entrusts us with our: time, talent, and treasury, to be good stewards of all He has given.

Sometimes money has no relevance in a situation but time … that can have more value than gold!  They are all gifts that we are entrusted with.

When we value the number of days we have been entrusted with in our life, we view them differently. We’re not so eager to throw them away and assume there will be another to replace it. We are more likely to embrace that day, even at times with trepidation, unsure what will come of that day. Sometimes fearful of what it may bring. At times knowing all too well the pain of loss before the day begins.

And then there is the God factor that brings hope and strength to our heart and souls. Remembering this is a day God has entrusted us with and if He entrusted us with this day, He will walk us through it with grace and mercy, with love and strength, wisdom and hope right alongside of us. He carries us through to be all that He has called us to be. To influence and bring hope to those that only we could in the way that we would. God trusts us with His Love toward others, just as He has loved us first. Even when we think we can’t bring love to one more person because of the pain in our own lives God empowers us to love anyway.

Entrusted is an active word requiring a level of response and responsibility on our behalf that surpasses circumstance or emotion even opinion.

Life is not always fair. It is not. There are circumstances that are out of our control that bring pain and suffering to us and those around us. And yet we are not defined by our circumstances but our response to our circumstances.

When I consider Job in the Old Testament, he is not remembered by his wealth, even the loss of all his wealth, health or family. His story is about his faithfulness through the good and the bad and then good again. His story is remembered thousands of years later because it defines him as faithful to God regardless of his circumstances. Job was entrusted with his days the success, loss, and success again were a byproduct of his embracing each day as one given by God, regardless of what that day brought. He would praise God in plenty or in devastation. He knew God would be with him regardless of the circumstance.

God knew that Job would remain faithful through the good and through the bad. He was trusted by God.

Entrusted — what a spectacular word!

We are entrusted with our children. The fact is that God had trusted us with our children.
